World Cup; Afghanistan beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets to pull off another upset.

In the 30th match of the World Cup, Afghanistan defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets and caused another upset. With this victory, the Afghanistan team reached the fifth position on the points table. Afghanistan achieved the target of 242 runs given by Sri Lanka in the 46th over. It should be noted that this is Afghanistan’s third consecutive victory in the event and all three times they defeated the previous world champion teams.
Chasing the target, Rahmanullah Garbaz returned to the pavilion at zero, and was dismissed by Dilshan Madhushanka. After that, the Afghan batsmen showed responsibility and made the Sri Lankan batsmen look helpless.
A partnership of 78 runs was made between Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmat Shah on the second wicket, then a partnership of 58 runs was made between Rahmad Shahid and captain Heshmatullah Shahidi on the third wicket. Ibrahim Zadran returned to the pavilion after scoring 39 runs, he was also dismissed by Madhushanka, while Hashmatullah Shahidi scored 62 runs and was caught out by Kasan Rajitha. However, an unbeaten partnership of 111 runs between Hashmatullah Shahidi and Azmatullah Umarzai on the fourth wicket gave Afghanistan their third victory in the event. Earlier, the Sri Lankan team was bowled out for 241 runs due to the brilliant performance of the Afghanistan bowlers. In the match being played at the Maharashtra Cricket Stadium located in the Indian city of Pune, Afghanistan team captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and invited Sri Lankan captain Kaushal Mendis to bat first. The Sri Lankan openers provided an opening of 22 runs in 5 overs and Dimath Karunaratne scored 15 runs off 21 balls and was dismissed by Fazal Haq Farooqui. Pathum Nisanka and captain Kosal Mendis tried to extend the partnership for the second wicket but Azmatullah Umarzai failed to do so and took Nisanka’s wicket at a score of 84. Sri Lanka’s second wicket fell on the first ball of the 19th over when Nissanka, who scored 46 runs, was dismissed.
The captain and Sudira Samaravikrama completed the team’s century and in partnership took the team score to 134, but they were dismissed by Afghanistan’s young spinner Mujibur Rahman. Kosal Mendes’ innings consisted of 39 runs off 50 balls, which included only 3 fours although Mendes is known for his aggressive batting.
Sudira Samaravikrama also could not bear the parting of the captain and his innings of 36 runs for 139 runs was ended by Mujeebur Rahman, after which the Sri Lankan team came under severe pressure after losing 4 important wickets.
Dhananjaya de Silva also added only 14 runs and got out on the first ball of the 30th over, the team’s score was 167.
Fazal Haq Farooqui took Afghanistan’s sixth wicket in the 39th over and this time all-rounder Charith Asalinka’s 22-run innings ended.
Sri Lanka’s experienced player and former captain Angelo Mathews resisted for a while by scoring 23 runs off 26 balls with the help of a four and a six. The score was 185. Mahesh Thekshana supported Mathews well and scored 29 runs off 31 balls with the help of 3 fours and a six.
Sri Lanka had scored 239 runs when Mathews got out on the third ball of the 49th over by Fazal Haq Farooqui.
Kusan Rajitha was the last Sri Lankan batsman out, being run out for 241 on the third ball of the last over after adding 5 runs. The entire Sri Lankan team was bowled out for 241 runs on the third ball of the last over. On behalf of Afghanistan, fast bowler Fazal Haq Farooqui took the most 4 wickets, Mujeebur Rahman took 2 wickets, Azmatullah Omarzai and Rashid Khan took one wicket each.

ورلڈ کپ کے 30ویں میچ میں افغانستان نے سری لنکا کو سات وکٹوں سے ہرا کر ایک اور اپ سیٹ کردیا,اس فتح کے ساتھ افغانستان کی ٹیم پوائنٹس ٹیبل پر پانچویں پوزیشن پر پہنچ گئی۔ سری لنکا کا دیا گیا 242 رنز کا ہدف افغانستان نے 46ویں اوور میں حاصل کرلیا۔ واضح رہے کہ افغانستان کی ایونٹ میں مسلسل تیسری کامیابی ہے اور تینوں مرتبہ اس نے سابقہ عالمی چیمپئن ٹیموں کو ہرایا۔
ہدف کے تعاقب میں صفر پر رحمان اللّٰہ گرباز پویلین لوٹ گئے، انہیں دلشن مدھوشنکا نے آؤٹ کیا۔ اس کے بعد افغان بیٹرز نے ذمہ داری کا مظاہرہ کرتے ہوئے سری لنکن بیٹرز کو بے بسی کی تصویر بنادیا۔
دوسری وکٹ پر ابراہیم زادران اور رحمت شاہ کے درمیان 78 رنز کی پارٹنر شپ بنی، تو تیسری وکٹ پر رحمد شاہد اور کپتان حشمت اللّٰہ شاہدی کے درمیان 58 رنز کی پارٹنرشپ بنی۔ ابراہیم زادران 39 رنز بنا کر پویلین لوٹے، انہیں بھی مدھوشنکا نے آؤٹ کیا جبکہ حشمت اللّٰہ شاہدی 62 رنز بنا کر کاسن راجیتھا کی گیند پر کیچ آؤٹ ہوئے۔ تاہم چوتھی وکٹ پر حشمت اللّٰہ شاہدی اور عظمت اللّٰہ عمر زئی کے درمیان 111 رنز کی ناقابلِ شکست پارٹنرشپ نے افغانستان کو ایونٹ میں تیسری فتح دلوادی۔ اس سے پہلے افغانستان کے باؤلرز کی شان دار کارکردگی کے باعث سری لنکا کی ٹیم 241 رنز بنا کر آؤٹ ہوگئی۔ بھارتی شہر پونے میں واقع مہاراشٹرا کرکٹ اسٹیڈیم میں کھیلے جا رہے میچ میں افغانستان کی ٹیم کے کپتان حشمت اللہ شاہدی نے ٹاس جیت کر سری لنکن کپتان کوشل مینڈس کو پہلے بیٹنگ کی دعوت دی۔ سری لنکا کے اوپنرز نے 5 اوورز میں 22 رنز کا آغاز فراہم کیا اور دیمتھ کرونارتنے 21 گیندوں پر 15 رنز بنا کر فضل حق فاروقی کی گیند پر آؤٹ ہوگئے۔ پاتھم نسانکا اور کپتان کوسل مینڈس نے دوسری وکٹ کے لیے شراکت داری طویل بنانے کی کوشش کی لیکن عظمت اللہ عمرزئی نے اس سے ناکام بنایا اور 84 کے اسکور پر نسانکا کی وکٹ حاصل کرلی۔ سری لنکا کی دوسری وکٹ 19 ویں اوور کی پہلی گیند پر گری جب 46 رنز بنانے والے نسانکا آؤٹ ہوگئے۔
کپتان اور سدیرا سماراوکراما نے ٹیم کی سنچری مکمل کی اور شراکت میں ٹیم کا اسکور 134 تک لے گئے تاہم افغانستان کے نوجوان اسپنر مجیب الرحمٰن نے انہیں آؤٹ کردیا۔ کوسل مینڈس کی اننگز 50 گیندوں پر 39 رنز پر مشتمل تھی، جس میں صرف 3 چوکے شامل تھے حالانکہ مینڈس اپنی جارحانہ بیٹنگ کے لیے مشہور ہیں۔
سدیرا سماراوکراما بھی کپتان کی جدائی برداشت نہ کرپائے اور 139 رنز پر ان کی 36 رنز کی اننگز کا خاتمہ مجیب الرحمٰن نے کردیا، جس کے بعد سری لنکن ٹیم 4 اہم وکٹیں کھونے پر شدید دباؤ کا شکار ہوگئی۔
دھنانجیا ڈی سلوا بھی صرف 14 رنز کا اضافہ کر پائے اور 30 ویں اوور کی پہلی گیند پر آؤٹ ہوئے تو ٹیم کا اسکور 167 تھا۔
فضل حق فاروقی نے 39 ویں اوور میں افغانستان کو چھٹی وکٹ دلائی اور اس مرتبہ آل راؤنڈر چریتھ اسالینکا کی 22 رنز کی اننگز تمام ہوئی۔
سری لنکا کے تجربہ کار کھلاڑی اور سابق کپتان اینجیلو میتھیوز نے 26 گیندوں پر ایک چوکے اور ایک چھکے کی مدد سے 23 رنز بنا کر تھوڑی دیر کے لیے مزاحمت کی جبکہ دوسرے اینڈ سے دشمنتھا چمیرا زیادہ دیر نہیں ٹھہر سکے اور رن آؤٹ ہوگئے تاہم ٹیم کا اسکور 185 ہوچکا تھا۔ مہیش تھیکشانا نے میتھیوز کا بھرپور ساتھ دیا اور 31 گیندوں پر 3 چوکوں اور ایک چھکے کی مدد سے 29 رنز بنائے تھے۔
میتھیوز 49 ویں اوورز کی تیسری گیند پر فضل حق فاروقی کی گیند پر آؤٹ ہوئے تو سری لنکا نے 239 رنز بنائے تھے۔
کوسن رجیتھا سری لنکا کے آخری آؤٹ ہونے والے بلے باز تھے، جو 5 رنز کا اضافہ کرنے کے بعد آخری اوور کی تیسری گیند پر 241 کے اسکور پر رن آؤٹ ہوگئے۔ سری لنکا کی پوری ٹیم آخری اوور کی تیسری گیند پر 241 رنز بنا کر آؤٹ ہوئی۔ افغانستان کی جانب سے فاسٹ باؤلر فضل حق فاروقی نے سب سے زیادہ 4 وکٹیں حاصل کیں، مجیب الرحمٰن نے 2، عظمت اللہ عمرزائی اور راشد خان نے ایک،ایک وکٹ اپنے نام کی۔
