Islamabad; The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad debunked the rumors on social media about the death of a Coronavirus patient in G-13/4, Islamabad. The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Mr.Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat said that the death was caused by a drug overdose given to the diseased by his friend who is now on the run. He said that it was a mistake on the part of an Edhi volunteer which caused the dissemination of false information. Earlier on other day, Bhara Kahu was fully locked down to contain the spread of Coronavirus over reports of 16 Cases. However, now the area has partially been opened. The emergence of two Coronavirus (COVID-19) Cases each in Shahzad Town and Rimsha Colony H-9 Islamabad, both the areas have been sealed as a measure to halt the outburst of the deadly virus.In a Tweet, the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat said that health teams will monitor both the areas and take preventive measures. He said that the areas will be re-opened after a health survey.“Pursuant to the recent confirmed reports of individuals infected with Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) residing in Rimsha Colony, H-9, Islamabad and Shehzad Town, Islamabad the entire areas falling in these localities are hereby sealed forthwith exercise of powers conferred under Epidemic Disease Act (1958), in large public interest and to prevent wide spread outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Moreover, Islamabad Police, Ranges and Pakistan Army are requested to cordon off above mentioned area to ensure the public safety,” said the notification of sealing Shahzad Town and Rimsha Colony H-9 issued by the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) District Magistrate.The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad also asked the people to self-quarantine in separate rooms who attended the funeral prayer of the mother-in-law of Faisal Mehmood Sahb, a resident of Street No 6 at Shahzad Town, on last Friday (March 20). He also asked such people to get them tested for the Coronavirus and ask for help at 1165 if required. The federal government has deployed the Pakistan army across Pakistan under Article 245 of the Constitution to assist the civil administration battling with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic.The Interior Ministry has issued separate notifications for the deployment of armed forces across the Country which state that the power to deploy the army has been exercised under Article 245 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Section 131A of CrPC 1089.The Pakistan army has been deployed through the Country including in the Federal Capital, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. More over the sources of District Bar Association confirmed that a lawyer namely advocates Humair Saleem Cheehma has been moved to hospital with visible symptoms of Covid-19 by the district health department officials. They said the doctors conducted the Coronavirus test of the lawyer which was positive. The infected lawyer was moved into an isolation ward where doctors are treating him.The death toll in Pakistan is reached up to 10, out of which three were from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while three were died in Punjab and one each in Islamabad, Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Balochistan, but 20 people have also recovered. A 55-year-old woman died on other day from Coronavirus here. The deceased has been identified as Capt (Retd) ShahidaLiaquat, who along with her family had recently arrived from UK to Sohawa for attending funeral of a relative, according to details.The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan jumped to 1,106 Thursday morning after new cases were reported in Balochistan, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Sindh reported eight new cases in the country, seven in Karachi and one in Hyderabad, taking the provincial tally to 421. Similarly, eight more Covid-19 positive patients including four Germany and UK returned citizens and a lawyer were brought to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) and other quarantines by the district health authorities.The national dashboard had reported six new cases in Islamabad. Balochistan had reported its first death, a 65-year-old man, who had been under treatment at the Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital.Earlier, a doctor from Gilgit Baltistan, who had been fighting against the virus on the frontlines, was reported as the fifth casualty. On Sunday, March 22, Adviser to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Information Ajmal Wazir had announced the country’s fourth death from the virus. On March 20, Pakistan had recorded its third death from the virus. Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho had confirmed the death of a 77-year-old COVID-19 patient in the province. Soon after arrival, the condition of the lady started deteriorating after which she was rushed to M.H. hospital in Rawalpindi where she was tested positive for Covid-19, they said. “The lady died of Coronavirus on other day morning and her dead body was brought to Sohawa by the family without adopting precautionary measures,” according to details. The lady was buried in a graveyard after offering funeral prayers by some eight to 10 people of the area that too without wearing protective kits. The UK returned lady landed in Pakistan on March 9 and got sick after which she was rushed to a military-run hospital in Rawalpindi. As many as 25 villagers including 10 people who attended the funeral prayers are being shifted to quarantine centre.
Two patients from KP who tested positive for the coronavirus were reported as the country’s first two deaths.In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the number of cases in the province stands at 121, while the number of reported cases in Gilgit-Baltistan is 84. In Punjab, the numbers of positive cases stand at 323.Sindh remains the worst affected province by the coronavirus in the country so far, with a total of 421 coronavirus cases. In Islamabad, 25 patients have been confirmed to have contracted the virus and one in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
