ISLAMABAD; The President of Pakistan Mr. Mamnoon Hussain has urged the national leadership to bury their hatchet and get united on Constitution of Pakistan for the sake of national interests.
He was addressing the nation after unfurling national flag at central flag hoisting ceremony held at Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad on Monday.
The ceremony was attended, among others, by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang, members of the federal cabinet, services chiefs, members of the diplomatic community and senior civil and military officials.
The President emphasized that protection of Constitution and its strict adherence is a guarantee of peace, progress and prosperity of the country.
President Mamnoon Hussain pointed out that history tells us temperament of the national is fundamentally democratic and parliamentary in nature. The nation demonstrated this time and again by reposing confidence in democracy and the parliamentary system.
China reassures continued support to Pakistan : Vice Premier
Addressing the ceremony, Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang, who was chief of honour on the occasion, declared that his country would continue to support efforts of Pakistan in preserving and strengthening its independence, sovereignty and solidarity.
He said China would continue to extend unwavering support to Pakistan in all spheres of life.
He said China wants to strengthen its multi-dimensional strategic cooperation with Pakistan .
The Chinese Vice Premier referred to the on-going war against terror and said his country would support Pakistan ‘s efforts to pursue the fight against terrorism as per its national interests.
Felicitating people of Pakistan on the occasion of 70th anniversary of Independence, he said China fully shares joys of people of Pakistan .Mean while Pakistan and China have signed different documents to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of education and infrastructure development.
The documents were signed at Prime Minister House Islamabad in a ceremony during the visit of Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang.
Both the countries signed the Letters of Exchange for FATA Schools projects. Both the countries also signed a strategic cooperation agreement.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Vice-Premier of the State Council of People’s Republic of China Wang Yang held one on one meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said Pakistan and China are all weather friends and strategic partners.
He said Pakistan-China bilateral ties are time tested and our relationship has attained new heights after the CPEC that is a game changer for the region and beyond.
Vice Premier Wang Yang congratulated the Prime Minister on Pakistan’s 70th anniversary celebrations and stressed that his visit demonstrated the close strategic relations between the two countries and China’s strong support for Pakistan.
The Prime Minister also hosted a dinner in honour of the Chinese Vice Premier and members of the visiting delegation.
