IOC Olympic Solidarity Seminar “Sports Medicine and Protection of Clean Athletes” start at Islamabad

Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) under the auspice of IOC Olympic Solidarity Programme l hold two-day seminar titled ‘Sports Medicine and Protection of Clean Athletes’ started here today (Saturday).
The IOC Olympic Solidarity seminar on ‘Sports Medicine and Protection of Clean Athletes’ seminar was inaugurated by POA president Lt Gen (R) Syed Arif Hasan. Over two hundred male and female athletes, coaches, team managers, and general secretaries of the national sports federations attended the seminar.
The purpose of the seminar was to educate and raise awareness among athletes on the global challenges and trends in issues related to sports medicine and safe sports. This particular seminar will educate athletes on hazards, such as doping and drug abuse, and aims to create a culture of clean sports. In addition, it will impart a special focus on sports nutrition and sexual harassment in sports fraternities.
POA secretary Khalid Mehmood, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Deputy Director General Mansoor Ahmed, Director National Sports Federations Azam Dar, Dr Waqar Ahmed and officials of federations, coaches and athletes were also present on the occasion. The Purpose of the “Sports Medicine and Protection of Clean Athletes”Seminar is to educate and make athlete aware about global challenges and trends in issues related to Sports Medicine and safe sport. The President POA shall inaugurate Lt Gen (R) Syed Arif Hasan HI (M), inaugurate the subject Seminar on 04 August 2018.while addressing the audience Lt Gen (R) Syed Arif Hasan HI(M)stated that this seminar will help in protecting athletes from hazards like doping and drug abuse and will help to create a culture of clean athletes. The speakers Dr,Waqar Ahmed,Dr,Asad Abbas Shah,Ada Jaffery and other stated that Seminar will impart a special focus on sport nutrition and sexual harassment in sports fraternity.
