Consultative meeting between Makkah Alliance member states and Iran is proof of peace-oriented objectives: Foreign Office Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan

Foreign Office Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan has stated that the first consultative meeting between the member states of the Makkah Alliance and Iran serves as evidence of the alliance’s defensive and peace-oriented objectives. This alliance is not directed against any specific country; rather, it aims to promote peace and stability within the region. According to him, dates for future meetings have not yet been finalized, but further engagements will take place at an appropriate time. Regarding the conflict between Iran and the United States, the spokesperson noted that Pakistan, acting as a sincere mediator, provided every possible facility to facilitate dialogue between the two nations, playing a key role in bringing them to the negotiating table—a significant development given that they had not engaged in direct talks for 47 years. During his weekly briefing, Sajjad Haider Khan clarified that there is no restriction on issuing a Pakistani visa to the Chief Minister of Indian Punjab, nor has the issuance of visas to Indian citizens been halted. He mentioned that over 4,000 Sikh pilgrims have been granted visas for Pakistan this year.
During the Foreign Office’s weekly press briefing, the spokesperson also announced that Pakistan has received an invitation from India to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
The summit is scheduled to be held in New Delhi from November 20 to 22. A decision regarding participation will be made by the leadership following institutional consultations and the completion of necessary procedural formalities. It should be noted that last month, in the Indian Punjab Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed a desire to visit Pakistan. He mentioned that an International Punjabi Conference is being held in Lahore and that he has been invited; he stated that he wishes to attend, as our roots are shared and our challenges are the same. During the session, the Indian Speaker and other members also expressed a desire to visit Pakistan, requesting Bhagwant Mann to take them along to Lahore, provided that government permission is granted.
Regarding the Pakistan-Iran border, the spokesperson stated that movement across the border continues; however, the current status of the border’s opening would need to be verified with the relevant authorities.

ترجمان دفتر خارجہ سجاد حیدر خان نے کہا ہے کہ مکہ اتحاد کے رکن ممالک کا ایران کے ساتھ پہلا مشاورتی اجلاس اتحاد کے دفاعی اور امن پسند مقاصد کا ثبوت ہے۔ یہ اتحاد کسی ملک کے خلاف نہیں بل کہ خطے میں امن و استحکام کے فروغ کے لیے ہے۔ ان کے مطابق آئندہ اجلاسوں کی تاریخیں تاحال طے نہیں ہوئیں اور مناسب وقت پر مزید ملاقاتیں ہوں گی۔ایران اور امریکا کے درمیان تنازع کے حوالے سے ترجمان دفتر خارجہ نے کہا کہ پاکستان نے مخلص ثالث کی حیثیت سے دونوں ممالک کے درمیان مذاکرات کے لیے ہر ممکن سہولت فراہم کی اور 47 سال سے ایک دوسرے سے بات نہ کرنے والے ممالک کو مذاکرات کی میز پر لانے میں کردار ادا کیا۔ ہفتہ وار بریفنگ کے دوران سجاد حیدر خان نے کہا کہ بھارتی پنجاب کے وزیراعلیٰ کو پاکستان کا ویزا جاری کرنے پر کوئی پابندی نہیں اور بھارتی شہریوں کے لیے ویزوں کا اجرا بھی بند نہیں کیا گیا۔ انہوں نے بتایا کہ رواں سال 4 ہزار سے زائد سکھ زائرین کو پاکستان کے ویزے جاری کیے گئے ہیں۔
دفتر خارجہ کی ہفتہ وار پریس بریفنگ کے دوران ترجمان نے کہا کہ پاکستان کو شنگھائی تعاون تنظیم کے سربراہی اجلاس میں شرکت کا بھارتی دعوت نامہ موصول ہوگیا ہے۔
اجلاس 20 سے 22 نومبر تک نئی دہلی میں ہوگا، جس میں شرکت کا فیصلہ ادارہ جاتی مشاورت اور ضابطہ کار مکمل ہونے کے بعد قیادت کرے گی۔
واضح رہے کہ گذشتہ ماہ بھارتی پنجاب اسمبلی میں وزیراعلی بھگونت مان نے پاکستان آنے کی خواہش کا اظہار کیا تھا، انھوں نے کہا تھا کہ لاہور میں عالمی پنجابی کانفرنس ہو رہی ہے اور مجھے بلایا گیا ہے، میں جانا چاہتا ہوں کیونکہ ہماری جڑیں ایک ہیں مسائل ایک ہیں۔اس اجلاس کے دوران بھارتی اسپیکر سمیت دیگر اراکین نے بھی پاکستان جانے کی خواہش ظاہر کی اور کہا کہ بھگونت مان صاحب آپ حکومت کی جانب سے اجازت ملے تو ہمیں بھی لاہور ساتھ لے کر جائیں۔
پاک ایران سرحد سے متعلق ترجمان نے بتایا کہ سرحد پر آمدورفت جاری ہے، تاہم بارڈر کھلنے کی موجودہ صورتِ حال متعلقہ اداروں سے معلوم کرنا ہوگی۔
