The concluding ceremony of 3rd Chairman POF Board National Ranking Championship’2018 was held at POF Tennis Complex. Lt Gen Sadiq Ali, HI (M) Chairman POF Board was the Chief Guest on this occasion who distributed prizes among the position holder players. Aqeel Khan defeated Abid Ali with the score 6-4, 6-2 in Men’s Single and clinched the 3rd Chairman POF Board National Ranking Championship Trophy. In under 10 category, Hamza defeated Jamal with the score 4-0, 4-0, under-14 category Sami defeated Hashesh with the score 1-6, 6-2 & 6-4, under-18 Uzaifa defeated Saqib with the score 6-0, 6-0, in Men’s Double Aqeel Khan & Abid Ali defeated Muhammad Abid & Waqas Malik with the score 5-7, 6-4 & 10-6 and in the 45 years and above category Israr Gul defeated Jahanzeb. Addressing on this occasion Lt Gen Sadiq Ali, HI(M) Chairman POF Board remarked that POF Administration has been playing an active role for the promotion of sports activities and he stressed upon the youth to take part in these healthy activities. These healthy activities put positive effects not only on human health but also keep away from negative pursuits. He further mentioned that all sports facilities are available in Wah Cantt free of cost and younger generation should benefit from these facilities. Chairman POF Board congratulated the organizing committee for holding this Championship in a successful manner and assured that POF administration will provide all possible resources for up-gradation of sports facilities. Earlier, Assad Durrani Secretary POF Sports Control Board while presenting tournament report told that 196 players participated in the qualifying round of the Championship. Secretary POF Sports Control Board further mentioned that POF Sports Board under the supervision and command of Chairman POF Board is striving hard to uplift sports standard in Wah Cantt. Office Bearers of Tennis Federation, POF senior officers and spectators witnessed the concluding ceremony.The third National Ranking Tennis Tournament organized by the Pakistan Tennis Federation in collaboration with the POF sports control board in which players from all over the country participated. Earlier Pakistan’s top tennis player Aqeel Khan moved into the second round of Chairman POF Board Tennis Championship at POF Tennis Courts in Wah. After losing at the hands of Muhammad Abid in the finals in Lahore, Pakistan’s longest serving number one player Aqeel Khan was in sublime form once again and was dictating terms like ever witnessed in the last two decades, as he simply outplayed Gul Zaman 6-0 (retired).In the other first round matches, title winner of Pakistan Open Tennis in Lahore Muhammad Abid outpaced Aqib Hayat 6-4, 6-0, Malik Abdul Rehman thrashed Shakir Ullah 6-1, 6-3, Barkat Ullah beat Abdal Haider 7-6(6), 6-4, Yousaf Khalil beat Rashid Khan 6-3, 6-2, Muzammil Murtaza beat M Waqas Malak 7-6(6), 6-2, Ahmed Babar beat Abbas Khan 6-4, 6-4.Mudassar Murtaza beat Nauman Aftab 6-4, 7-6(5), Muhammad Shuaib beat Ejaz Khan 6-4, 7-5, Saqib Hayat beat Shaheen Mehmood 6-4, 6-3, Subhan Bin Salik routed Amjad Ishaq 6-1, 6-0, Heera Ashiq outclassed Musa Ch 6-0, 6-2, Ahmed Ch overpowered Asad Ullah 6-1, 6-1, Abid Ali Akbar outsmarted Parbat Kumar 6-0, 6-2, Jibranul Haq beat Shahzad Khan 4-0, retd and Huzaifa Abdul Rehman outlasted Iftikhar Ahmad Bajwa 6-0, 6-1.In boys’ U-18 first round matches, Kashan Umar beat Hamidullah Yaqoob 6-1, 6-3, Hamid Israr beat Faizan Shahid 6-3, 6-1, Nauman Aftab beat Amir Zeb 6-1, 6-1, Ahtisham Humayun beat Azan Shahid 7-6(4), 7-5, Parbat Kumar beat M Huazaifa Khan 6-2, 6-2, Musa Ch beat Nalain Abbas 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, M Abdullah w/o Abdullah Adnan, Ahmad Asjad crushed Uzair Khan 6-0, 6-0, Hassam Khan beat Asim Gul 6-1, 6-3, Zaib Nasar w/o Ahmad Kamil, Aqib Hayat beat Jahanzaid Inam 6-2, 6-2, Uzair Khan beat M Talha Khan 3-6, 7-5, 6-4, Sami Zeb beat Waleed Qureshi 6-1, 6-1, Huzaifa Abdul Rehman beat Hashish Kumar 6-0, 6-1 and Saqib Hayat beat Subhan bin Salik 6-1, 6-2.

In boys’ U-14 matches, Shahsawar Khan beat Taimur Khan 4-0, 4-0, Huzaima Abdul Rehman beat Ahmad Ali Khan 4-0, 4-0, Ahmad Nael beat M AW Khan 4-0, 4-0, M Huzaifa Khan beat M Haziq Asim 4-0, 4-0.Ali Zain beat Nafay Areesh 4-1, 4-2, Yahya Musa w/o Hamza Mazhar, M Talha Khan beat Azan Shahid 4-1, 4-0, Hamid Yaqub beat M Hamza Asim 4-0, 4-1 and Ahtisham Humayun beat Esa Zubair 4-0, 4-0. In boys’ and girls’ U-10 matches, Abdul Basit beat Ahmad Sheheryar 4-1, 5-3 and Taimur Khan beat Ayesha Amjad 4-0, 4-0. Top seed Aqeel Khan overpowered youngster Malik Abdul Rehman to move into the third round by 2-0. Both gave tough time to each other when it was 4-4, Aqeel utilized his vast experience and managed to break Abdul Rehman’s ninth game to take 5-4 lead and then managed to hold onto his serve to take the first set 6-4 in 35 minutes.In the second set, Abdul Rehman failed to repeat the same while Aqeel started dictating terms as he broke second and fourth games of Abdul Rehman to comfortably win the set 6-2 in 22 minutes, thus registered a well-fought victory and advanced to the next round. Muzammil Murtaza, Mudassar, Muhammad Shoaib, Gibranul Haq, Abid Ali Akbar and Muhammad Abid outplayed their respective opponents to move into third round of National Ranking Tennis Tournament started at the Pakistan Ordnance Factories tennis court in Wah. op seed Aqeel Khan moved to the semifinals of the 3rd Chairman POF Board National Ranking Tennis Tournament 2018 as he brushed aside Yousaf Khan in straight sets in the quarterfinal played at POF Tennis Courts Wah.Aqeel started the first quarterfinal on positive note as he broke the fifth game of Yousaf to take the first set 6-3 in 32 minutes. Aqeel simply outclassed Yousaf in the second set, where he was toying with the lad and never allowed him to score even a single point and won it 6-0 in it 6-0 in 20 minutes.
