اپنے بیان میں وزیراعظم نے کہا کہ سلطان اذلان شاہ ہاکی ٹورنامنٹ میں جاپان کے خلاف پاکستانی ٹیم نے فائنل میں بہترین کارکردگی کا مظاہرہ کیا۔
ان کا کہنا تھا کہ ہار جیت کھیل کا حصہ ہے لیکن قومی ہاکی ٹیم نے عمدہ کھیل سے پوری قوم کے دل جیت لیے ہیں۔
شہباز شریف نے اس عزم کا اظہار کیا کہ حکومت کھیلوں بالخصوص قومی کھیل ہاکی کے فروغ کے لیے ہر ممکن اقدامات اٹھا رہی ہے۔
دوسری جانب میئر کراچی اذلان شاہ کپ میں چاندی کا تمغہ جیتنے والی قومی ہاکی ٹیم کے ہر رکن کے لیے ایک، ایک لاکھ روپے انعام کا اعلان کیا ہے۔
13سال بعد اذلان شاہ ٹورنامنٹ کا فائنل کھیلنے پر قومی ہاکی ٹیم کو سراہتے ہوئے میئر کراچی نے کہا کہ ہار جیت کھیل کا حصہ ہے اور قومی ٹیم فائنل سے پہلے تک ناقابل شکست تھی اور فائنل میں بھی جاپان کا اچھا مقابلہ کیا.
ان کا کہنا تھا کہ قومی ٹیم کا سلور میڈل جیتنا ہاکی کی بحالی کی جانب پہلا قدم ہے اور قومی ٹیم کے ہر رکن کو ایک لاکھ روپے فی کس دیے جائیں گے۔سلطان اذلان شاہ کپ ہاکی ٹورنامنٹ کے فائنل میں جاپان نے سنسنی خیز مقابلے کے بعد پاکستان کو پینالٹی شوٹ آؤٹ پر 1-4 گول سے شکست دے دی۔
اذلان شاہ کپ ہاکی ٹورنامنٹ کا فائنل ملائیشیا کے شہر ایپوہ میں ٹورنامنٹ میں اب تک ناقابل شکست پاکستان اور جاپان کے درمیان کھیلا گیا۔ 13سال بعد اذلان شاہ ہاکی ٹورنامنٹ کا فائنل کھیلنے والی پاکستانی ٹیم کے لیے فائنل کا آغاز کچھ اچھا نہ تھا اور جاپان نے پہلا گول اسکور کر کے برتری حاصل کی۔ تاہم اس کے بعد قومی ٹیم نے میچ میں شاندار انداز میں واپسی کی اور اعجاز احمد کے گول کی بدولت مقابلہ برابر کردیا۔ میچ کے تیسرے کوارٹر میں قومی ٹیم نے جارحانہ حکمت عملی اپناتے ہوئے جاپان کے خلاف حملوں کا سلسلہ جاری رکھا اور اس کا صلہ قومی ہاکی ٹیم کو اس وقت ملا جب عبدالرحمٰن نے گیند کو گول پوسٹ میں پہنچا کر پاکستان کو میچ میں ایک گول کی برتری دلا دی۔ اس سے قبل کہ قومی ٹیم میچ میں فتح حاصل کرتی، میچ کے چوتھے کوارٹر میں جاپان نے گول کر کے مقابلہ برابر کردیا تھا۔ فائنل میچ کا فیصلہ پینالٹی شوٹ آؤٹ پر ہوا جس میں پاکستان نے گول کرنے کے اپنے پہلے دو مواقع ضائع کیے جب کہ جاپان نے اپنا کوئی موقع ضائع نہیں کیا اور 4 شوٹ آؤٹ پر 4 گول کیے جبکہ پاکستان نے 3 مواقع ضائع کیے اور صرف ایک گول کیا۔ پاکستان کی جانب سے پینالٹی شوٹ آؤٹ پر لیاقت ارشد اور رانا وحید اشرف نے گول کونے کا موقع ضائع کیا۔ پاکستانی ٹیم اس ٹورنامنٹ میں فائنل سے قبل ناقابل شکست رہی تھی پانچ میچوں میں سے تین جیتے اور دو میچز ڈرا کیے۔ پاکستان اس سے قبل تین بار اذلان شاہ ہاکی ٹورنامنٹ کا ٹائٹل جیت چکا ہے اور آخری بار 2003 میں اذلان شاہ ہاکی ٹورنامنٹ جیتا تھا۔ اس سے قبل تیسری اور چوتھی پوزیشن کے لیے کھیلے گئے میچ میں نیوزی لینڈ نے میزبان ملائیشیا کو 2-3 سے شکست دے کر کانسی کا تمغہ اپنے نام کیا

Shahbaz Sharif expressed his determination that the government is taking all possible steps for the promotion of sports, especially the national sport of hockey.
On the other hand, Mayor Karachi has announced a reward of one lakh rupees for each member of the national hockey team who won the silver medal in the Azlan Shah Cup.
Praising the national hockey team for playing the final of the Azlan Shah tournament after 13 years, Mayor Karachi said that losing is a part of the game and the national team was undefeated until the final and even in the final, they fought well against Japan.
He said that winning the silver medal of the national team is the first step towards the restoration of hockey and each member of the national team will be given one lakh rupees each. Later, they defeated Pakistan by 1-4 goals on penalty shootout.
