“استاد بشیرالدین- اے ریسٹرینڈڈ گریس” اور “بلیڈنگ بارڈرز” کا انعقاد 12 نومبر 2024 کو نیشنل کالج آف آرٹس میں ہوگا۔
میو سکول آف آرٹس اور نیشنل کالج آف آرٹس، لاہور، پاکستان کے 150 سال مکمل ہونے کی تقریبات کے سلسلے میں، “The Drawings of Ustad Bahiruddin — A Restrained Grace” اور امین رحمان کے انسٹالیشن پروجیکٹ “Bleeding Borders” کی افتتاحی تقریب ہوگی۔ 12 نومبر 2024 کو شام 4 بجے منعقد ہوگا۔ نیشنل کالج آف آرٹس کی ظہور الاخلاق گیلری میں۔ یہ نمائش نیشنل آرٹ گیلری، اسلام آباد میں 2 سے 15 دسمبر 2024 تک جاری رہے گی۔
“بلیڈنگ بارڈرز” اور “استاد بشیرالدین- ایک روکا ہوا فضل” NCA میں ظہور الاخلاق گیلری میں نمائش شدہ کاموں کے دو الگ الگ جسموں کو پیش کرتا ہے۔ مؤخر الذکر میں استاد بشیر الدین سے متعلق ڈرائنگ، پینٹنگز اور آرکائیول مواد شامل ہیں جو میو اسکول آف انڈسٹریل آرٹس کے طالب علم اور استاد تھے اور اس کے بعد نیشنل کالج آف آرٹس، لاہور آتا ہے۔ ادارے کا نام تبدیل کر دیا گیا کیونکہ 1958 میں اس کی تنظیم نو ہوئی اور نیشنل کالج آف آرٹس، لاہور بن گیا۔ آرٹ ورکس کے دوسرے سیٹ میں امین رحمٰن کے معاصر فن کو پیش کیا گیا ہے جو ٹورنٹو، کینیڈا میں مقیم ایک ہم عصر فنکار ہیں۔
استاد بشیر الدین قصور، پنجاب میں پیدا ہوئے اور پرورش پائی۔ انہوں نے اپنی فن کی تعلیم میو سکول آف آرٹس لاہور سے حاصل کی اور میو سکول اور نیشنل کالج آف آرٹس لاہور میں 1953 سے 1982 تک پڑھایا۔
وہ ایک ماسٹر منی ایچر پینٹر تھا جو اپنے واش پینٹنگ کے انداز اور ڈرائنگ کے لیے جانا جاتا تھا۔ انہوں نے 1982 تک شعبہ فائن آرٹس میں کام کیا جس کے بعد وہ ریٹائر ہو گئے۔ وہ طلباء کی نسلوں کی پرورش اور رہنمائی کرتا رہا جو مشہور فنکار اور ڈیزائنر بنے۔
اس نمائش میں پہلی بار استاد بشیر الدین کی چالیس خاکے نمائش کے لیے رکھے جائیں گے۔ نمائش کا یہ حصہ استاد بشیرالدین کے علمی مضامین پر مشتمل ایک کیٹلاگ کے ساتھ ہے جو محترمہ سلیمہ ہاشمی، عاصم اختر اور زہرین مرتضیٰ کے لکھے ہوئے ہیں۔
دوسری گیلری میں، استاد بشیر الدین کے بیٹے امین رحمان اپنے حالیہ پروجیکٹ کی نمائش کر رہے ہیں جس کا عنوان ہے، “بلیڈنگ بارڈرز”۔ تاریخ کے بارے میں رحمان کے گہرے علم نے اسے خطے کے ہم عصر سرحدی علاقوں سے قدیم تجارتی راستوں کا سفر کرنے کی ترغیب دی۔ ان کے فن پارے سائٹ پر ہونے والی تحقیق اور دستاویزات کا نتیجہ ہیں جو پاکستان کی سرحدوں کے ساتھ رہنے والی کمیونٹیز کی زندگی کی صورتحال کو تلاش کرتے ہیں، جن میں ہندوستان، ایران اور افغانستان شامل ہیں۔ رحمان تجارتی راستوں سے لوگوں کی نقل مکانی کی تحقیقات کرتے ہیں اور ان استعاراتی اقدامات کا سراغ لگاتے ہیں جو وسطی ایشیائی حملہ آوروں نے ہندوستان پہنچنے کے لیے اٹھائے تھے۔ نتیجہ خیز فن پارے ہمیں ان کہی اور چھپی ہوئی کہانیوں کے ساتھ رہنمائی کرتے ہیں، مختلف حالات زندگی اور نوآبادیاتی حکمرانی کے اثرات پر روشنی ڈالتے ہیں۔
دونوں طرف سے اپنے ثقافتی اور سماجی رشتوں کی وجہ سے اکثر وہ اقتصادی اور سماجی وجوہات کی بنا پر سرحدوں کے پار منتقل ہو جاتے ہیں۔
اس سلسلے میں کام کا بڑا حصہ سیاسی مفادات، غیر ملکی مداخلت، حملوں کی تاریخ، اور سرحدوں پر رہنے والے حالات پر تبصرہ کرتا ہے۔ امین رحمان چالیس مخلوط میڈیا کاموں کی نمائش کر رہے ہیں، جن میں نیون اشارے اور ویڈیو پروجیکشن شامل ہیں۔

The “Ustad Bashiruddin- A Restrained Grace” and “Bleeding Borders”will be held on November 12, 2024, at at National College of Arts
In connection with the celebrations marking 150 years of Mayo School of Arts and National College of Arts, Lahore, Pakistan, the opening ceremony of “The Drawings of Ustad Bashir ud Din—A Restrained Grace ” and Amin Rehman’s installation project “Bleeding Borders” will be held on November 12, 2024, at 4 p.m. at the Zahoor ul Akhlaq Gallery at National College of Arts. This exhibition will travel to the National Art Gallery, Islamabad, from December 2 to 15, 2024.
The “Bleeding Borders” and “Ustad Bashiruddin- A Restrained Grace” feature two separate bodies of works exhibited at the Zahoor-ul-Akhlaq Gallery in NCA. The latter features drawings, projections of paintings and archival material related to Ustad Bashiruddin who was a student and teacher at Mayo School of Industrial Arts followed by National College of Arts, Lahore. The institution was renamed as it underwent restructuring in 1958 and became the National College of Arts, Lahore. The second set of artworks features contemporary art by Amin Rehman who is a contemporary artist based in Toronto, Canada.
The Ustad Bashir ud Din was born and raised in Kasur, Punjab. He received his art education from the Mayo School of Arts Lahore and taught at the Mayo School and National College of Arts Lahore from 1953 to 1982.
He was a master miniature painter known for his wash painting style and drawing. He worked in the Department of Fine Arts till 1982 after which he retired. He went on to nurture and guide generations of students who became famous artists and designers.
Forty drawings of Ustad Bashir ud Din’s will be on display for the first time in this exhibition. This section of the exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue with academic essays on Ustad Bashiruddin written by Mrs. Salima Hashmi, Aasim Akhtar, and Zohreen Murtaza.
In the second gallery, Ustad Bashir ud Din’s son Amin Rehman exhibits his recent project titled, “Bleeding Borders.” Rehman’s deep knowledge of history inspired him to travel ancient trading routes through the region’s contemporary borderlands. His artworks are the result of on-site research and documentation that explores the living situation of communities surviving along Pakistan’s borderlands, which include India, Iran, and Afghanistan. Rehman investigates the migration of people through trade routes and traces metaphorical steps that Central Asian invaders took to reach India. The resulting artworks guide us with untold and hidden stories, shedding light on various poor living conditions and repercussions of colonial rule.
Often they move across borders for economic and social reasons owing to their cultural and social ties across both sides.
The larger body of work in this series comments on political interests, foreign intervention, histories of invasions, and the living situations at the borders. Amin Rehman is exhibiting forty mixed-media works, including neon signage and video projections.
The “Bleeding Borders” is accompanied by catalogue texts from Dr. Lee Rodney, Manar AboTouk, Varda Nisar, Asim Akhtar and Zohreen Murtaza.
