Demand to confer highest national civil award on Laiba Rab Nawaz Janjua, International Karate Champion
RAWALPINDI (Special Reporter) Former presidential candidate, prominent political and social leader and Editor-in-Chief AAM News Asghar Ali Mubarak has strongly demanded from the Government of Pakistan, the Ministry of Sports and the Pakistan Sports Board that Pakistan’s renowned female athlete and international karate champion Laiba Rab Nawaz Janjua be conferred with the highest national civil award for making the country famous in the field of martial arts all over the world. In a special congratulatory statement, former presidential candidate Asghar Ali Mubarak revealed that Laiba Rab Nawaz Janjua has not only made the country proud in the field of sports but also in the field of education. She is performing her teaching duties as a teacher at the Liverpool campus of Roots International Schools and Colleges (RISC). The entire Roots International Schools and Colleges family is celebrating this historic achievement of their proud teacher who, in addition to nurturing young minds in the classroom, is also flying the flags of victory in the global sports arenas. Laiba Rab Nawaz Janjua has achieved the unique distinction of becoming the first female athlete from Pakistan in the history of Kyokushin Karate to win both Gold and Silver medals simultaneously in the same international tournament (International Commonwealth Kyokushin Karate Championship, Uzbekistan), setting an incredible and ground-breaking record. This extraordinary achievement of hers is a reflection of her immense dedication, resilience and discipline, which reflects the true spirit of Roots International Schools (RISC). Asghar Ali Mubarak, while giving details of Laiba Janjua’s illustrious career, said that Laiba Janjua, affiliated with Raja’s Martial Arts Honbu, Islamabad, had also made it to the Asian podium by winning a bronze medal in the first Asian tournament held in Isfahan, Iran in September 2024, while recently, at the 5th National Dream Cup Karate Festival held in Lahore on August 9, 2026, she won first position and gold medal in the female black belt kata division. She has also achieved the official black belt status from World So-Kyokushin Japan by completing 20 consecutive extremely tough fights in February 2025. Former presidential candidate Asghar Ali Mubarak also congratulated the management of Roots International Schools and the Liverpool Campus team for their full support in this historic achievement of Laiba Janjua. He strongly demanded from the Government of Pakistan, the Ministry of Sports and the Pakistan Sports Board that this great daughter, who has hoisted the flag of Pakistan from the classroom to the international karate ring, be officially recognized and awarded the highest national civil honor so that other female athletes of Pakistan can also be encouraged to move forward.
