ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan met a delegation of the South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC) at the Prime Minister’s House. The meeting discussed various issues related to the preparations for the 14th South Asian Games and the promotion of youth and sports in Pakistan.
The meeting reviewed the preparations for the 14th South Asian Games to be held in Pakistan from April 3 to 11, 2027. The sports competitions will be held in Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar. These games will include 28 different sports, in which 346 medal events will be held while about 3,200 athletes are expected to participate.
The delegation was briefed about the ongoing projects, initiatives and steps taken by the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme to empower the youth through sports, skills and other opportunities.
The meeting also discussed enhancing cooperation between the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme and South Asian sports organizations, especially in terms of youth participation in sports and providing opportunities for talented athletes to progress at the national, regional and international levels.
The delegation was led by Mr. Arif Saeed, President of the Pakistan Olympic Association and President of the South Asian Olympic Council.
Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, while welcoming the delegation, reiterated the government’s commitment to the promotion of youth and sports. He said that it is important to provide maximum opportunities to the youth to showcase their talents and advance in the field of sports.
He said that the South Asian Games are an important source of friendship, cooperation and promotion of sports among the countries of the region and through them, young athletes get an opportunity to showcase their talents to the world.
At the end of the meeting, the commitment was expressed to further strengthen joint cooperation for the successful organization of the 14th South Asian Games and the promotion of youth and sports.

اسلام آباد – چیئرمین وزیرِاعظم یوتھ پروگرام (PMYP) رانا مشہود احمد خاں نے جنوبی ایشیا اولمپک کونسل (SAOC) کے ایک وفد سے وزیرِاعظم ہاؤس میں ملاقات کی۔ ملاقات میں 14ویں جنوبی ایشیائی کھیلوں کی تیاریوں اور پاکستان میں نوجوانوں اور کھیلوں کے فروغ کے حوالے سے مختلف امور پر بات چیت کی گئی۔
ملاقات میں 3 سے 11 اپریل 2027 تک پاکستان میں ہونے والے 14ویں جنوبی ایشیائی کھیلوں کی تیاریوں کا جائزہ لیا گیا۔ کھیلوں کے مقابلے اسلام آباد، لاہور اور پشاور میں منعقد ہوں گے۔ ان کھیلوں میں 28 مختلف کھیل شامل ہوں گے، جن میں 346 میڈل مقابلے ہوں گے جبکہ تقریباً 3,200 کھلاڑیوں کی شرکت متوقع ہے۔
وفد کو وزیرِاعظم یوتھ پروگرام کے جاری منصوبوں، اقدامات اور نوجوانوں کو کھیلوں، مہارتوں اور دیگر مواقع کے ذریعے بااختیار بنانے کے لیے کیے جانے والے اقدامات سے آگاہ کیا گیا۔
ملاقات میں وزیرِاعظم یوتھ پروگرام اور جنوبی ایشیا کی کھیلوں کی تنظیموں کے درمیان تعاون بڑھانے پر بھی بات ہوئی، بالخصوص نوجوانوں کی کھیلوں میں شرکت اور باصلاحیت کھلاڑیوں کو قومی، علاقائی اور بین الاقوامی سطح پر آگے بڑھنے کے مواقع فراہم کرنے کے حوالے سے۔
پاکستان اولمپک ایسوسی ایشن کے صدر اور ساؤتھ ایشیا اولمپک کونسل کے صدر مسٹر عارف سعید نے وفد کی قیادت کی۔
چیئرمین رانا مشہود احمد خاں نے وفد کا خیرمقدم کرتے ہوئے نوجوانوں اور کھیلوں کے فروغ کے لیے حکومت کے عزم کا اعادہ کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ نوجوانوں کو اپنی صلاحیتیں اجاگر کرنے اور کھیلوں کے میدان میں آگے بڑھنے کے زیادہ سے زیادہ مواقع فراہم کرنا ضروری ہے۔
انہوں نے کہا کہ جنوبی ایشیائی کھیل خطے کے ممالک کے درمیان دوستی، تعاون اور کھیلوں کے فروغ کا اہم ذریعہ ہیں اور ان کے ذریعے نوجوان کھلاڑیوں کو اپنی صلاحیتیں دنیا کے سامنے لانے کا موقع ملتا ہے۔
ملاقات کے اختتام پر 14ویں جنوبی ایشیائی کھیلوں کے کامیاب انعقاد اور نوجوانوں اور کھیلوں کے فروغ کے لیے مشترکہ تعاون کو مزید مضبوط بنانے کے عزم کا اظہار کیا گیا
